1. Make sure that the golden finger of decoder should be in the same direction as that of the data line.
2. Insert the decoder, if the message displays" ?"Unrecognised cartridges"?±", first please check if they are in good contact, then see the Version of the FIRMWARE, if the decoder can't work with the low Version, please update to the high Version.

Highest FIRMWARE Version for NovaJet700 is:3.15
Highest FIRMWARE Version for NovaJet630 is:3.15

Instruction Manual for ENCAD NOVAJET 850 &KODAK4860 Decoder
1. Envoloping the chips on the original ink cartridges with paper.
2. Checking the version of the printer (the BOOT ROM is version 1.7.or the FIRMWARE is version 2.0.13&2.03
3. If your printer is not the above-mentioned version, please update as below:
a. Connecting the printer and computer with parallel cable.
b. Pressing the first and the fourth buttons on the left, if the printer displays nothing, and continuously alert, then you can update.
c. Updating the BOOT ROM to version 1.7 (Remark: You must update BOOT ROM first, then update the FIRMWARE).
d. Updating the FIRMWARE TO version 2.0.13 or 2.03
e. Waiting for 20-40 seconds , you can hear a sound"di..."that means you have updated successfully.
4. Installing the decoder to the right-side data cable which near the memory on the mainboard.
REMARK:
1. You must take out all the decoder (including the original chips on the ink cartridges) before up-dating.
2. You must update in the right order (update the BOOT ROM first, then the FIRMWARE).
3. You must reset with only one decoder each time.
4. Work must do after decoding
a. Starting---Setting----Ink option menu ---Ink control menu---Preheat
b. Starting---Setting ---Ink option menu ---Temp control menu ---Calibrate cartridges
c. Starting---Set up menu---Print mode menu ---Passing correction ---Off
